All the fruit that goes into these wines has been grown and handpicked from Beguet’s own vineyards in Jura, including a much-coveted plot in Côte de Feule, Pupillin.
The Domaine Beguet labels feature an early twentieth century lithograph used by Patrice’s grandfather, who had a licence to distill Gentiane, a spirit made from the gentiane’s root.
Vigneron and Winemaker, Patrice Béguet makes experimental, natural wines in Jura, France.
Using regional varieties including savagnin, chardonnay, trousseau and ploussard the wines are expressive, complex and textural.
Custom blends and long ferments create unique character and interest.
These lively wines are a joy to experience!
Patrice and a small team use organic vineyard practices and follow biodynamic rituals.
No synthetics are used in the vineyard or winery and most of the wines have no added sulphur.
About
Set amongst the lush landscape of Mesnay, is the home and vineyards of natural winemaker, Patrice Beguet.
Drawing inspiration from his love of jazz and the diverse scenery of Jura; his range of wines is electric, textural and complex.
Patrice left a busy life working in IT, in Paris to return to Jura, where he was born, and pursue his dream of making natural wine.
He loves this region because whilst it is well known for wine production, the landscape is not dominated by vineyards.
There are mountains, fields, forests (hardwood and softwood).
Patrice lives and works amongst this beautiful greenery with his two young children.
Patrice strongly believes in minimal intervention and healthy living.
When it comes to organics he says “I will never use any synthetic products. Not for me, my employees, my children, my neighbours or my customers”.
Depending on the vintage, Patrice makes very different cuvees.
The potential of the grapes, vinification and the final wine, is decided by the quality, maturity and structural potential of the grape.
He often uses long maceration to extract lots of texture and character.
Patrice Beguet’s wines are anything but predictable.
No fining
No filtration
No synthetic yeast
No added sulphur (for most of the wines)
