Piedirosso is a typical red grape variety from the Flegrei area, where thanks to the volcanic origins of the soil it is still possible to cultivate it ungrafted, thus maintaining the original physiological characteristics unaltered. In this way it fully expresses the unique characteristics of the Flegrian territory.

Winery based in Pozzuoli in the Campi Flegrei , we only make wine from our own grapes grown in our vineyards in the province of Naples.

We produce 3 Reds: Piedirosso DOC Campi Flegrei, a blend of Piedirosso and Aglianico and an Aglianico aged for 18 months in French oak barriques.

We also produce Falanghina Campi Flegrei and a sparkling Falanghina on yeasts. We organize guided tours of the vineyards and tastings upon reservation.

The Portolano family has its historical roots in the Neapolitan area, and has a strongly entrepreneurial tradition, which has seen it as an absolute protagonist in the production of handcrafted leather gloves for four generations.

It is an estate that extends over a vineyard area of approximately 5 and a half hectares , on a decidedly volcanic subsoil due to its proximity to Vesuvius; the climate is typically Mediterranean, with mild and fairly rainy winters and dry, hot summers, which are however slightly refreshed by the breeze coming from the nearby sea.

Only two native red grape varieties are grown within the vineyards, Aglianico and Piedirosso; if the first is undoubtedly the standard bearer of Campania red wines, the second has very ancient origins - some believe that it was already mentioned by Pliny the Elder - precisely in these areas.

In the vineyard and in the cellar every operation is carried out with the utmost attention, to ensure that the characteristics of the grapes are respected to allow them to express themselves to their full potential.

There are four labels that are created at each harvest: Piedirosso DOC Campi Flegrei, Falanghina DOC Campi Flegrei, Donna Teresa (Piedirosso and Aglianico blend), 6 inches pure Aglianico. Fine and elegant bottles, which faithfully express the connotations of the terroir of origin.
