They are picked very early and about 3 days apart. the valdiguie is 100% whole cluster and vermentino is destemmed on top. maceration lasts around 6 days with light punchdowns to maintain the clusters on the bottom. pressed and finished in neutral barrel. aged for 5 months. bottled unfined and unfiltered. 70 cases produced.
artwork by Jennelle Lynn. shop this specific print here

Notes on the Producer

We launched ídola wine co in 2023 with the intention of cultivating awareness in our day to day lives. We treat wine as a meditation - from grape to glass - and believe in its power to communicate the complexities of Nature.
Our fruit is processed in a minimal-intervention style that respects the subtleties of each vintage and honestly captures terroir in a glass. Consuming, and now producing, these types of wines encourages us to look beyond the bottle and reflect on where we fit into a bigger picture. There is beauty in knowing that every interpretation will be unique.
We invite you to meditate on a glass of ídola, appreciating its unique sensibility each time you open a bottle. At the end of the day, ídola is about connection. With Nature, with others, with yourself. It’s one of those varieties that feels naturally suited to coastal food and warm-weather drinking: aromatic enough to be expressive, but usually driven by freshness rather than perfume alone.

In the vineyard, Vermentino handles sun and maritime influence well, and it can keep useful acidity even in warm climates. It often does best when picked before it gets too broad, preserving the salty, citrusy, herbal side that gives the wines their lift.

In the glass, Vermentino often shows lemon, lime, green apple, pear, almond, wild herbs, and a saline or sea-spray quality. The best versions are crisp and textured at the same time, with enough phenolic grip to make them feel like real food wines rather than just simple aperitifs.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0403/3655/6193/files/fPcZ1SivueVq7PhdLNzLx1m9LV0JMUA6nbd8BZsaZCw.jpg?v=1783048153
