Appellation: Vin de France.
Grapes: Grenache noir, Syrah and Mourvèdre a third each.
About: FX Dauré’s second, big red, but still typical of his style for freshness and digestibility. Made by whole bunch carbonic maceration without any extraction.
Location: just south of Espira in the Roussillon.
Size: 1.5 hectares.
Age: vines planted Syrah in 2000, Mourvèdre in 1995.
Altitude: 35 m.
Training: although everything was planted in gobelet, much was re-trained to cordon de royat on wire in the 1980’s for the “convenience” of the worker, rather than the health of vine and fruit.
Farming: organic, as above.
Average yield hl/ha: 35.
Made by whole bunch carbonic maceration with 7 days on skins in fibreglass. Natural yeasts, some added sulfites. Matured on its fine lees for 6 months in inox and one old barrique.

Tasting: fruit is rich but still cool and clear, with juicy cherry, cassis, strawberry and black pepper notes, with firm tannins.
