Ideal for enthusiasts or those new to the wine and service industries, the Foundation Course focuses on the main styles of wine, tasting technique, wine and food pairing, as well as wine service and etiquette.

The class consists of a 6 hour session that concludes with a short 30 question multiple-choice exam.

Successful candidates receive the WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines.

🍱 Lunch is included and will be served mid-day from our Farmers Market Restaurant!

Our instructor is Paul Zink!!! Paul is a long-time team member at Satellite and holds a WSET Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wine. Paul is immersed in wine and will be traveling to Austria to work harvest with Alzinger Winery just days after this course. Paul is a vivacious and brilliant wine mind who's infectious enthusiasm has been critical at Satellite.

Paul received his WSET Certificate under Monica Marin, our Program Director, at the Wine House in Los Angeles (along with our own Drew Cuddy and Lenka Davis). Monica is a long-time WSET instructor and a Master of Wine Candidate. We credit her not only for jump starting our program but bringing WSET education to Los Angeles and the Central Coast!
