Notes on the Producer
Clos de l’Epinay is a 300 year-old Vouvray domaine, heading to a new direction when Antoine Labrosse bought it in 2022 and hired Henri Bruneau as winemaker. We previously knew Henri as a very talented winemaker at Domaine des Freres in Chinon. We arE excited to bring the first releases from this esteemed domaine, located in pristine terroirs of the premieres côtes of Vouvray, neighbored by famous labels (Huet, Foreau…) The domaine spans over 17 hectares of Chenin and 1 hectare of red varieties (Pinot, Gamay, Groleau and Côt). The farming is certified organic, practicing biodynamic, and pivoting towards agroforestry. The Clos is located of the hill crest of Vouvray. The surrounding vineyards benefit from different expositions, soil type, microclimate, steepness. The duo has identified 10 different terroirs with a common thread of clay and limestone, and adapts his winemaking accordingly. “We want to make natural, true and living wines,” says Antoine. In the cellar, Henri is a true believer of low intervention and high attention. Hard working and very sensitive, he is truly connected to his wines and his first Vouvray are vibrant, bright and super promising.
