Notes on the Producer

A Family Adventure The history of Domaine Dupuy de Lôme begins in the 19th century with the famous maritime engineer Stanislas Charles Henry Dupuy de Lôme (1816-1885), who began his career at the arsenal of Toulon. This illustrious engineer is at the origin of numerous inventions in the field of shipbuilding, including the world’s first “steam-powered liner, the Napoleon”, launched in 1850; the development of the armor process with the « Gloire » in 1852; and the construction of the first truly operational submarine, the “Gymnote“, which is said to have probably inspired the description of Jules Verne equally famous Nautilus in his work Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. In 1903, his daughter acquired the “Grès” site as well as its vineyard, in Sainte-Anne d’Evenos, which is today the cradle of the cellar. In 2006, two of his descendants, Benoit Cossé and Geoffroy Perouse, decided, with their families, to restructure the vineyard, conserving the old vines and planting selected grape varieties. A wine gem nestled in the heart of the Bandol appellation, where the art of viticulture meets the passion for the terroir. Our family estate, founded on a historic site, embodies the excellence of the Bandol appellation. Located in a preserved landscape between sea and hills, Domaine Dupuy de Lôme benefits from an ideal microclimate, conducive to the flourishing of the region’s emblematic grape varieties, in particular Mourvèdre. We cultivate our vines with care and respect for nature, using organic Ecocert management to produce exceptional wines that reflect the authenticity of our terroir. Each bottle is the result of the know-how of Quentin Levet, director of the estate with international experience. The cellar contains vintage treasures from this exceptional terroir facing north. Wines that captivate the senses, from deliciously fresh rosés to deep, structured reds. At Domaine Dupuy de Lôme, a warm welcome is a requirement. We invite you to share our passion by discovering our vineyards, tasting our unique vintages and delving into the captivating history of our estate. Whether for an oenological visit, a tasting with friends or the organization of events, we are delighted to welcome you and share with you the very essence of our wine art. Explore our site to learn more about the family history of Dupuy de Lôme. Immerse yourself in the elegance of Bandol from Domaine Dupuy de Lôme, in the heart of this exceptional site. The Domaine Dupuy de Lôme, located in the Bandol appellation, covers 18 ha spread across three very complementary production sites : - 1st site : Facing due north in the town of Sainte Anne d’Evenos, in the heart of the Grés massif, classified as a natural site in 1931, where the cellar is located . Sand-lime soils are arid and naturally not very fertile. - 2nd site : South facing on the Beausset Vieux hill. It benefits from an unusual geology with the outcrop of a Triassic layer placed on a Cretaceous layer and marl-clay soils. - 3rd site : In the plain, on sedimentary soil, a vast 4.5 ha plantation was built in 2017 and 2018, producing Côte de Provence rosés and Rolle whites from Pays du Mont Caume (IGP).
