Notes from the Winery/Importer
This trocken (dry) Silvaner Ortswein is grown exclusively on a couple of sites on the famous Kitzinger Wilhelmsberg vineyard. The shell-bearing limestone is known to produce Silvaner which tends to be smoother with yellow stone-fruit aromatic and creaminess to it. Mayor white variety in Franconia. Pairs great with lighter dishes. On the nose you’ll find aromas of elderflower, grapefruit tobacco, and flintstones.
48-hour maceration time on the skin extracts precious aroma components from the grape skins and adds to the complexity. After pressing and settlement, the juice fermented spontaneously and the malolactic fermentation was as well. One part of the juice has been fermented in new French Tonneau (500 Liter/316 US Gallons) and stayed on full lees contact for 12 months. The native fermentations create a greatly balanced wine.
