Notes from the Winery/Importer
An elegant, classically styled grower Champagne from the husband-and-wife team of Eric Lebeau and Anne-Marie Batiste in Chavot-Courcourt, just south of Épernay. The family has farmed these vines since the 14th century, and today the estate is fully organic. Production is tiny — roughly 800 cases — and each bottle rests on its lees for more than 30 months, with 20 percent reserve wine included for added depth and complexity.
In the glass, it shows a fine, silky mousse with persistent, pinpoint bubbles. Aromas of crusty baguette, toasted nuts, and delicate orchard fruit lead into a palate that’s mouthwatering and precise, balancing juicy freshness with savory, brioche-driven richness.
A benchmark in the new generation of conscientious grower-Champagnes — honest, refined, and built with integrity. Perfect as an aperitif or alongside anything from oysters to roasted poultry.
Notes on the Producer
Lebeau-Batiste is a small, family-owned grower-producer estate located in the village of Chavot‑Courcourt just south of Épernay in Champagne. The estate’s roots reportedly go back to the 14th century, though it only more recently began estate-bottling and promoting under its own label rather than just selling grapes to the cooperative. Their vineyards are farmed with serious attention to soil and environment — they’re organically managed (or converting) and pursue sustainable viticulture.
