Satellite's Hot Take
A super rare Aglianico from CA that's outrageously great with structure and depth
Notes from the Winery/Importer
Aglianico is one of southern Italy's great red grapes, the backbone of Taurasi and Aglianico del Vulture, and almost nobody grows it in California. Ghostnote founder Brad Friedman is one of the few who does. He sources it from Tres Pinos Creek, an organically farmed, own-rooted parcel in the Siletto family's vineyard in San Benito County. He ferments with native yeast, keeps intervention to a minimum and goes for clarity over weight. The result is a distinctly Californian take on a classic Italian grape: structured, savory and unlike almost anything else made in the state.
Notes on the Producer
Ghostnote Wines is Brad Friedman’s small, independent project: naturally made, quietly serious wines with purpose, craft, and a clear point of view.
