Notes from the Winery/Importer

The wine opens with an enticing bouquet that features ripe red apples, Bosc pears, honeydew melon, and delicate floral notes of gardenias, all beautifully complemented by a subtle hint of oyster shells. On the palate, the wine reveals energetic acidity that enhances its concentrated, mineral-rich character. The flavor profile includes nuances of caramel and toffee apple, intertwined with freshly cut grass, culminating in a dry, savory, and fruity finish. This wine offers a full-bodied sensation in the mouth, supported by a vibrant acidity that contributes to an elegantly long finish. This blend comprises 50% Grenache Gris, 40% Grenache Blanc, and 10% Macabeu, sourced from 75 to 90-year-old bush vines planted in clay and limestone soils. The wine undergoes fermentation and is aged for nine months in three different types of old oak barrels, which adds depth and complexity to its flavor profile. Les Enfants Sauvages "Cool Moon" is best served chilled and pairs beautifully with grilled prawns, white fish, and dishes featuring green or white asparagus, making it a versatile choice for summer dining.

Notes on the Producer

Carolin et Nikolaus BantlinAfter completing my architectural studies I worked for two years in the Stuttgart office of Kohlhoff & Kohlhoff as a project manager. After the birth of our first son Falk in 1996 I joined the family business of my husband Nikolaus as head of office organization and accounting. Having fallen in love with the South of France after many vacations there, our original goal was to buy a second home in the South of France in order to move a part of the production of the family business and live in France. We then began our search during the nineties. In autumn 1998, our second son Juri having just been born, a Bergerie with 7.5 ha of vines caught our attention and finally conquered us. When we arrived at the place, we got out of the car and our first impressions were decisive, this place was so beautiful, calm and charming, that we said to ourselves "Yes, that's it".
