"Lazy" in the local piemontese dialect of Pinot d'Asti - I can tell you these wines are not lazy!
I can tell you this is my favorite friesa for all-day er'day drinking. Get lazy. It's basically strawberry juice with a little herbage and a lot of minerality. Just fresh - as the label suggests.
Notes from the Winery/Importer
BLENDA, in dialect PIGRO, like this wine that referments spontaneously, whenever it wants! A Blend of Freisa, expression of three vineyards and the ancient winemaking tradition. - 100% Freisa grape variety from three different vineyards. - Indigenous yeasts for both fermentations. - Not clarified. - Refined in steel. - One pass only in a wide cardboard filter. - Sulphurous <50 mg/l - Vineyard: average age 20 years, manure consumed, grassing and mowing. *** Very much copied from the producer's site using google translate!** - Drew
Notes on the Producer
In 1986 Giorgio Ferrero became the owner of the family farm that has been producing wine in Pino d'Asti for four generations, implements the method of organic farming. Since 2014, Luca Ferrero (Giorgio's nephew) has owned and operated the winery. In recent years Luca, while remaining firmly within the organic certification, has implemented new methodologies ranging from the vineyard to the cellar. He defines his wines as "artisanal from organically grown grapes". Artisanal because they are produced without the use (or at least minimal) of technology, chemical adjuvants and with small additions of preservatives only at bottling. Freisa has always been cultivated on his hills. His ancestors sensed first of all the very high potential that would have linked this vine to this micro territory. Luca believes Freisa is the vehicle to bring to the fore the amazing terroir in which he lives. Rustic, a bit rough, definitely not postcard-like. When asking Luca to describe his grape’s place in Piemontese wines, he states; “Freisa is a sixteen-year-old rebel, with creativity, desire to discover the world and make new experiences. It just needs places and people ready to welcome it to make it explode definitively.”
