A spectacular collab for a cozy winter night: the joy of Gamay, the sensuality of Syrah... yes, this wine is for doing it.
Medium bodied, composed and striking a wonderful balance between the fruity and savoury. This is wine designed for cool nights, huddled around a fire as the sun sets.
P.S. The Syrah Half of this fruit was sourced from Domaine Viret in Vinsorbes, one of the cooolest zones in the southern rhône and a phenomenal grower... happens to be best friends with Karim!
Karim Vionnet is a rising star of Beaujolais. Karim was a baker before he decided to follow his passion and become a winemaker. He worked under Guy Breton (famous “gang of four” member with Lapierre, Folliard and Thevenet) for 5 years before establishing his own domain in 2006 in Villie-Morgon, also his birthplace. From his 5ha domain, Karim’s aim is to “make a wine that is simple and natural”. Unnecessary intervention and artifices, both in the vineyard and during fermentation, are avoided, emphasising high quality and terroir driven wines.
Born to to Algerian parents, Karim was adopted as a child by a family in Morgon. Technically a negociant, Karim is responsible for the organic farming and vinification of 5 hectares of plots around Beaujolais, with vines ranging from 40-60 years old.
