Notes from the Winery/Importer
A laid-back red with just the right amount of depth. Laltre is what you reach for when you want something easy but quietly impressive — a wine with two moods: ripe, juicy fruit and a whisper of French oak. Aromas lean into dark cocoa, ripe raspberries, blackberries, and just a touch of vanilla and raw chocolate.
Grapes are hand-selected in the vineyard — only the best clusters make it in. Fermentation splits its time between stainless steel and cement, all with native yeasts, keeping things fresh and honest. A short two-month rest in neutral French oak rounds it out without getting in the way.
Smooth, balanced, and quietly complex — ideal for pizza night, tapas spreads, or sipping on a cool evening.
Notes on the Producer
Lagravera is located near Alfarras in Catalunya (2 hours west of Barcelona) in the D.O. Costers del Segre. The project was born in 2006 as a way to recover an old gravel pit (thus the name “la gravera= the gravel pit), regenerate its soil and recover the traditions of viticulture and winemaking in the area.
The winery is located between the Pyrenees and the Ebro Valley, in a part of the Anticline that here bears the name of the Serra Llarga and which constitutes the longest gypsum mountain chain in Europe. The link between the different terroirs is gypsum, which brings freshness to all of Lagravera’swines.
Farming organically since 2013, the vineyards have been converted to biodynamics (Demeter certified). Lagravera elaborates fine, ethereal wines using indigenous varieties of Red and White Grenache, Monastrell and many others.
