Satellite's Hot Take
A deeply pleasurable Aligoté that is full throated. The wine is deeply salty and incredibly, rewardingly acidic, with tart yellow apple flavors and an incredibly long finish for Aligoté. It’s clear that the farming is excellent and the vines are extremely old and deeply rooted. The wine has a texture that stands out on a more rich body than one might expect from Aligoté.

Notes on the Producer
Chorey-les-Beaune, Burgundy For four generations, Domaine Georges Roy was a longstanding purveyor of famous négociant wines. However, things began to change during the late 1990s, when brother and sister duo Vincent and Claire Roy took the reins from their father, Georges. Located in Chorey-lès-Beaune, siblings Vincent and Claire farm nine hectares of vines across a handful of unique growing sites. The majority of their vineyard holdings are dedicated to Pinot Noir, though a small percentage is planted to Chardonnay and Aligoté (10% each, respectively). They have holdings in Chorey, Savigny, Beaune, Corton, and some Bourgogne Aligoté in Chorey. The average age of their vines is 45 years. In the cellar, the curious and open-minded Vincent has begun working naturally with spontaneous fermentation from native yeasts and works like bottling in conjunction with the lunar calendar. Sustainable farming practices have been incorporated, with an aim of gaining organic certification soon.
