Satellite's Hot Take
An approachable Syrah built for drinking now and drinking well. The nose leads with blackberry and violet, touched by a whisper of cracked pepper. On the palate, the texture is soft and easy-going, with a bright, lively acidity that keeps the fruit front and center. The finish is light and juicy — uncomplicated in the best way, leaving you wanting another glass. Honest, unpretentious, and made for the table.
Notes from the Winery/Importer
Franche Lippée’ means ‘Frank Sip’ in French. 100 % Syrah, part destemmed, the rest whole bunch, fermented in concrete and pressed after 13 days, after a semi-carbonic maceration. No so2 added.
Notes on the Producer
It was on the advice of Jean-Baptiste Semmartin of Domaine Lajibe that we found Sebastien Fezas, a young natural winemaker hailing from Armagnac country. Lajibe has started buying fruit from him in 2021 for his upcoming négoce, because the farming is impeccable and biodynamic. When we tried his different cuvées, we were convinced Sebastien is an emerging talent. He has a very modern and free approach of winemaking, nonetheless true to its place. His wines show generous fruit and bright acidity. For the first time in the US, we are happy to share with you his pet nat of Ugni Blanc and Chardonnay, his crunchy Syrah and his oxidative Chardonnay.
