A wine made by our friends, for our friends!
This wine is the cenntral coast encapsulated in Syrah: rich and deep with a full juicy baked berry core, tobacco leaf, black licorice. In contrast to the intense and complex nose the palate is medium light bodied but with a lingering subtle inkiness. True to the name Umweg (detour in german!) this wine takes you on a long and winding journey down a dark backroad that's spicy, savory, juicy, and seductive... but equally crushable! This wine is a wandering wine... so get out there and wander with UmWeg!
Just 59 cases produced. 40% Whole Cluster, 8 months neutral oak.
Fernweh (German) - From fern (“far”) + Weh (“pain”). Can be literally translated as “farsickness” or longing for far-off places. An aching for travel, exploration and the unknown. Our wines are inspired by travel and everyday adventures. Driven by daydreams and the belief that anything is possible. Our grapes are sourced from biodynamic farms in Santa Barbara County and we believe that less is more when it comes to winemaking.
Each vintage is to tell a story of the land and the people, the learnings and the mishaps, laughter and tears. Time and place captured in a bottle. So let’s ease the Fernweh, by opening our favorite bottle and daydream of our next adventure.
