Notes from the Winery/Importer

This NV Solera Rose of Pinot Noir is from the Mountain Meadow Vineyard that we lease and farm in the northwest mountains of the SLO Coast AVA. We have been farming this 4 acre dry farmed, headtrained vineyard since the beginning of 2023. This vineyard site is a whimsical meadow plot in the mountains above Cayucos, sitting above 1600 feet elevation while only 4 miles from the coast.

This wine is composed of 75% 2023 wine and 25% 2024 fermenting wine, as the 2023 is the solera base we will continue to grow and care for. The 2024 addition was used as the native yeast and natural sugar dosage to referment the base wine to capture bubbles naturally in the bottle. This is a serious wine, from our small vineyard meadow in the mountains, the first sparkling release of Lady of the Sunshine. 96 cases produced.

Notes on the Producer

Gina Giugni is a second generation biodynamic farmer and winemaker. Gina started Lady of the Sunshine in 2017, with a focus on regenerative, organic, and biodynamic farming in pursuit of making natural wines that reflect the purity of the place they come from. Gina also farms, full time, the 6.5 acre Chene Vineyard, located in the Edna Valley appellation. Since her takeover in 2018, the vineyard is now a Demeter certified biodynamic vineyard. Gina and her husband, Mikey, run Scar of the Sea and Lady of the Sunshine together out of their winery in San Luis Obispo, CA.
