Notes from the Winery/Importer
Bordeaux, but with its top button undone. It’s rare to find a wine from such a traditional region showing this kind of relaxed charm. This is the bottle you bring to the backyard when someone’s grilling burgers with names like “The Elvis” or “Apocalypse Cow”—the kind that collapse in your hands. I call them Panic Burgers. Pair it with your favorite fries—preferably cooked in duck fat—and you’re in business. Or when you “accidentally” leave the store with an armful of charcuterie instead of real groceries.
But don’t mistake its easygoing vibe for shallowness—there’s serious structure and depth here, thanks to winemaker Gonzague Maurice of Château de Grandchamps. It’s mostly Merlot from around St-Émilion, delivering classic Bordeaux notes: blackcurrant, tilled earth, dark chocolate, and vanilla bean on the nose. The palate brings out black cherry, fresh raspberry, currant, and rich black soil, framed by gentle but firm tannins.
What really makes it sing is its balance: fully grounded in Bordeaux tradition, yet it has a warmth and generosity that sets it apart. It’s simply a pleasure to drink.
