Grapes & Style

Vermentino

Vermentino is a Mediterranean white grape, especially important in Sardinia, Liguria, Corsica, and parts of southern France where it’s often called Rolle. It’s one of those varieties that feels naturally suited to coastal food and warm-weather drinking: aromatic enough to be expressive, but usually driven by freshness rather than perfume alone.

In the vineyard, Vermentino handles sun and maritime influence well, and it can keep useful acidity even in warm climates. It often does best when picked before it gets too broad, preserving the salty, citrusy, herbal side that gives the wines their lift.

In the glass, Vermentino often shows lemon, lime, green apple, pear, almond, wild herbs, and a saline or sea-spray quality. The best versions are crisp and textured at the same time, with enough phenolic grip to make them feel like real food wines rather than just simple aperitifs.
