Glera

Glera is the main grape of Prosecco, grown primarily in northeastern Italy. It’s a naturally fresh, gently aromatic variety that works especially well for sparkling wine meant to be bright, easy, and immediately appealing.

In the vineyard, Glera can be productive, so site and yield control matter for quality. Its delicate aromatics are usually best preserved by clean fermentation and sparkling production methods that emphasize freshness over heavy lees or oak complexity.

In the glass, Glera often shows pear, apple, white peach, lemon, flowers, and a soft almond note. The best Prosecco is not just sweet bubbles; it’s clean, lifted, and gently fruity, with enough acidity to stay refreshing.
