Request a Case OrderWine Description An ethereal aroma of peach blossom hovers over a palate full of citrus, melon and minerality finishing with abundant acidity amid a delicately textured framework.
Vintage Notes (2023)
A cool, wet winter/spring followed by an atypically cool growing season allowed for longer than usual development on the vine with good acid retention.
Varietals
A heat tolerant, high acid white grape whose name translates to “lip stinger”, Picpoul is one of the oldest known varietals from southern France, noted as a key blending grape in Chateauneuf-du-Pape as well as for its varietal Picpoul de Pinet appelation.
Vineyards
The organically farmed Briarwood Vineyard (currently amid CCOF certification) situated in the central Templeton Gap sits atop a complex mix of alluvial soils over a bedrock substrate.
Winemaking
The Picpoul went straight to press for a gentle juice extraction and spent about 5 months in neutral barrel prior to bottling.

San Diego County Picpoul from an organically farmed, marine-influenced, sheltered valley vineyard planted in sandy clay loam (no doubt atop a bed of fossilized surf boards and chill vibes). Bright and mineral driven with some texture for balance!
