TheĀ WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner-to-intermediate level qualification exploring the world of wine—perfect for both industry professionals and enthusiastic wine lovers.

This course is ideal for:

  • Beginners who want to deepen their understanding of a wide range of wines

  • Students who want to build upon knowledge gained from Level 1

  • Anyone seeking a globally recognized certification in wine studies

You will explore:

  • Major grape varieties and key wine regions around the world

  • The factors that influence wine style and quality

  • How to taste, describe, and evaluate wine using the WSET Systematic Approach to TastingĀ®

Class runs 10:00am – 5:00pm each day

Certification Exam will take place Sunday, April 12 following class and a review session.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting WineĀ® (SAT)

  • The effects of environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking, and maturation on wine

  • Styles and qualities of wines made from 8 principal grape varieties:

    • Chardonnay

    • Pinot Grigio / Gris

    • Sauvignon Blanc

    • Riesling

    • Cabernet Sauvignon

    • Merlot

    • Pinot Noir

    • Syrah / Shiraz

  • Wines made from 22 regionally important grape varieties across 70+ global regions

  • Key styles of sparkling and fortified wines

  • Labeling terms, wine service, storage, and food & wine pairing principles

Brenna Ritchey

We are thrilled to welcome Brenna Ritchey as our newest WSET instructor! A Westmont College graduate and native of the LA and Central Coast regions, Brenna began her wine career post-graduation with an extraordinary opportunity at Vinous, working alongside Antonio Galloni. She brings a fresh and insightful approach to wine education.


Study Materials

Students will receive theĀ Level 2 Study Guide approximately one week before class.

šŸ“§ Please bring your registration confirmation email to pick up your materials.

Late registrants will receive study guides on the first day of class.


Course Duration

  • Total Hours: 16 hours of instructor-led study

  • Recommended Additional Study: 11+ hours of self-guided preparation


Examination & Certification

šŸ“˜Ā Exam: 1-hour, closed-book

  • 50 multiple-choice questions

  • Passing Score: 70%

    šŸ… Upon passing, you will receive a WSET certificate, lapel pin, and usage rights to the WSET Certified logo.


Entry Requirements

There areĀ no entry requirements for this course.

You must be of legal drinking age in your country to participate in tastings, but this is not required to pass the course.

🚫 Please avoid wearingĀ strong perfumes or bringing strong-smelling foods—this is a tasting course, and we want everyone to experience the wines clearly!
