Notes from the Winery/Importer
A full and rich red! Marie and Luc Michel, biodynamic winemakers, have crafted a breathtaking and wild sanctuary that harmoniously coexists with oak trees, pines, palms, cacti, and a variety of herbs. Their wine is a blend featuring 80% tannic and robust Mourvèdre alongside 20% sweetly spiced and smoky Carignan, sourced from 45- to 70-year-old goblet and bush-trained vines rooted in mineral-rich limestone and clay soils. The grapes are destemmed and macerated for 10 days to extract notable tannins, resulting in a red wine that tugs at your heartstrings. Reflecting the mild greenery of the landscape, it offers aromas of violets, blossoming flowers, bright blackberries, licorice strands, subtle earthy notes, gravel, and graphite. Designed for those chilly evenings when it's just you and your boo ;)
Notes on the Producer
Family estate of 9 hectares, on the foothills of the Cévennes, 1 hour from north of Nîmes.Poor and deep soil, i.e. a gelifracted scree commonly called "la gravette". 30 million years ago the cold explodes the hard limestone slabs into billions of small pebbles which are then spread during the melting of the glaciers for a thaw period. This very special soil gives the wines a freshness rare. Our work amounts to emphasizing this gift of nature, on the white and black grenache, cinsault, carignan, mourvèdre, syrah, alicante bouschet... The harvest is all done by hand, destemmed or in whole bunches, native yeasts, submerged marc, sweet vinifs in stainless steel and concrete vats. -Notes from the 'Raisin' app
