The Mastinell Brut Nature 2017 Cava Gran Reserva is a sparkling wine made from the classic Cava blend of Xarel·lo, Macabeo, and Parellada (approximately 40% Macabeo, 40% Xarel·lo, 20% Parellada). The grapes are hand-harvested from half-century-old, vase-trained (gobelet) vines. In the cellar, each variety is vinified separately, and the must is naturally clarified via sedimentation. To achieve its Gran Reserva designation and to showcase the purest expression of the land, the wine undergoes a long aging period on the lees and is finished in the Brut Nature style, meaning no liqueur d’expédition (dosage) is added after disgorging. Visually, the Cava displays a bright yellow color with very fine, persistent bubbles that anticipate its complexity. The nose is highly aromatic, defined by primary notes of ripe fruit (especially apple and citrus), balanced by secondary and tertiary notes of nuts and toast gained from its extensive aging. It is a structured, full-bodied wine on the palate with a distinctly dry entry. The texture is lifted by a lively acidity and integrated effervescence. The finish is long and persistent, leaving behind prominent saline notes, nutty undertones, and a lasting mineral touch. The wine shows excellent potential for aging and is highly recommended to pair with food, particularly with grilled seafood, cured meats, aged cheeses, and rice dishes.

Located in a privileged setting, in an area of ​​fertile soil, it is nestled at the foot of Sant Pau mountain, which protects it from the north winds and provides a mild microclimate.

Mastinell was founded in 1980 as a small, family-run winery in the heart of the Penedès region, situated in a privileged location at the foot of Sant Pau mountain.

Our love for the land and our constant dedication have allowed us to produce high-quality wines and cavas, capable of captivating those who have the pleasure of tasting them from the very first sip.

Our history is built on unwavering commitment and dedication. Innovation and creativity have been the driving forces behind our exploration of new paths, without ever losing sight of tradition and the value of craftsmanship.

With our tenacity, we have achieved a goal unattainable for many brands: to be part of the select group of the top ten most prestigious Cavas in the Penedès region. Furthermore, we have been recognized with the "Integral Producer" seal of the Cava D.O., a certification held by only 17 wineries (out of 349) that endorses our commitment to quality, transparency, and sustainability, guaranteeing that the entire production process of our Cavas takes place in our own facilities.

Awards and Recognition
Thanks to this dedication and our commitment to excellence, we have received numerous national and international awards over our more than 40 years in business. These accolades include medals at the Brussels World Wine Competition (Belgium), the Sakura Women’s Awards (Japan), and Mundus Vini (Germany). We have also received medals at the Decanter Awards (United Kingdom) and the Mondiale du Rosé (France), as well as at the Wine & Spirit Competition (United Kingdom) and the Challenge International (Hong Kong). Most recently, we were awarded 93 points in the Peñín Guide. Furthermore, we had the privilege of being selected as the official cava for the celebrations of the Spanish delegation at the Beijing Olympics (China) in 2008.
